About the Artist :

What role does art play in your personal well-being?

“Art has been a part of me. My Father was a painter, he taught me abut graphic art. He taught me how to run an AB Dick Printing Press. I stayed involved in every art advancement over the decades. I started doing photographic art since I got my first camera. I have sold high end art and graphic reprinted art like often seen in many hotels. One of my teachers once quoted to me; “There is a picture or piece of art for everyone, its just knowing which one”. I have published, I have reproduced my photographic art. While I have been incarcerated I have connected with the William James Society. I have donated a piece of art for a fundraiser to fund skateboards and equipment for disadvantaged children. All of that to say, art is important for my wellbeing. I love to share my work with hopes to benefit others and spread whatever kindness I can bring to the world. -Crown”

Does your art have any connection to your personality?

“My poems are a bio of my life. My image based art is as well, but do to hardships while in prison, I cant always have the supplies of my own. I can only produce my image based art through my Arts and Corrections class that is currently at risk of being eliminated. My intention through art is to show a way to kindness, love, and paying unifying intentions forward. -Crown”

The Swamp

$150.00

There are many mysteries in the history of the swamp. Simple put; there is beauty in surviving in forgotten places. Each section holds an untold story. Some stories are funny, some historical, while others may be tragic. What could invoke the calling of the artist to draw this particular section of the swamp while being confined to a California Prison. What is it about this particular section of the swamp that called out to the artist? Perhaps it was the feeling of isolation mirrored in the still waters. Perhaps it was the wild freedom of nature existing untouched by walls, fences, or confinement. Or perhaps, while sitting inside a California prison cell, the artist recognized something deeply human within the swamp itself.
